Dive into the dark undercurrents of American history in this four-session course exploring conspiracy theories and their societal impact. The course begins with the Anti-Masonic hysteria of the 1830s, a political movement fueled by fear and secrecy, and then examines the Second Red Scare and McCarthyism, a two-part exploration of Cold War paranoia and political repression. The course concludes with a look at modern conspiracy theories, from 9/11 to the unsettling rise of grand conspiracies over the past 40 years. Dr. Clark unpacks how these narratives take root, why they persist, and how they shape contemporary culture and politics.
